Committee Introduction

The Legal Committee, officially known as the Sixth Committee of the UN General Assembly, was founded in 1947; and since the committee has published resolutions on many topics: from extremist terrorism and systemic corruption to regulating maritime trade and the usage of technology in armed conflict. By creating legal instruments and treaties, the Legal Committee serves as the main platform via which the General Assembly implements Article 13 of the UN Charter, specifically devoted to the creation and codification of international law.
