Below are answers to some of the questions commonly asked by IVMUN participants regarding all aspects of the Conference. If you have a question that is not addressed here, feel free to get in touch with us.
General Information
+ What is Model UN and IVMUN?
Model United Nations (MUN) is an activity simulating the meetings of United Nations bodies and other international organizations. Participants represent a certain country or entity within one committee to discuss an announced topic in committee sessions at the conference.
IVMUN is a MUN conference designed especially for secondary students and undergraduates. Joining IVMUN, you will be able to take part in a Model United Nations Conference to enthusiastically discuss global issues. Besides, you will have the opportunity to sharpen your personal skills, enrich your knowledge and raise your awareness of daily occurrences worldwide.

+ What is the time and date of the Conference?
IVMUN 2024 is going to take place from July 26 - 28. More details about our schedule can be found here.
+ Where will IVMUN be held?
IVMUN 2024 will be hosted in Hanoi, Vietnam. Information about the exact venue will be available on our website as soon as it is available.
+ How many people will attend the program?
The number of people attending IVMUN has risen steadily throughout the past years. Last year, we welcomed roughly 200 Delegates, 50 Observers, 70 Secretariat members and correspondents.
Registration
+ What positions are available at IVMUN?
Participants can join IVMUN 2024 in one of two capacities: Delegates and Observers.
Delegates represent a country, entity, or character assigned by the Secretariat, and discuss the given topics with other Delegates in the same Committee to arrive at solutions for the topics and problems posed.
Observers can freely move among Committees to listen and join in conversations with Delegates and other Observers. They may also submit news stories detailing the progress of Committees.
+ What is a Delegation?
A Delegation is a group of Delegates, typically from the same school/university or organization, attending IVMUN together (not necessarily in the same Committee). All members of a Delegations undergo the same application process as with any other individual Delegates, ie. each member should complete their own Delegate application.
In addition, each Delegation should appoint 01 Head of Delegation, who will fill another form (in addition to their own Delegate application) to formally register the Delegation with IVMUN.
Delegations with at least 07 successful applicants will be granted a discount of 10% on fees for each member. All Delegations with 03 Delegates or above will be eligible for special Delegation prizes.
+ Who can participate in IVMUN?
Anyone between the ages of 14 and 20, inclusive, can participate.
+ Do I have to apply to participate in IVMUN?
Yes. You must complete and send an application form for assessment by our Secretariat, available at the Registration tab. Our Secretariat will select suitable candidates to become Delegates and Observers at IVMUN. If you are selected, you should arrange payment of your fees to confirm your spot.
+ Is previous Model UN experience required to register?
Not at all! We do not require that applicants have previous experience. In fact, in past Conferences, a significant proportion of Delegates and Observers were first-timers.
+ What are the fees to participate in IVMUN?

+ Is financial aid available?
Limited financial aid packages are available for Delegates whose financial circumstances may prevent them from joining IVMUN. More information will be available in due course.
Preparing for the Conference
+ Is transportation and accommodation provided?
The Registration fee, unfortunately, does not include transport to the city of Hanoi or lodging. However, depend on the location of targeted venue, we will consider whether Bus Registration is available for Delegates.
+ What language(s) will be used at the Conference?
Participants at IVMUN 2024 will be required to communicate entirely through English while the Conference is in session. Therefore, Delegates and Observers should be able to use English comfortably in written and spoken contexts to ensure optimal experience.
IVMUN does not require submission of English proficiency qualifications, nor will we take them into consideration while assessing submitted applications.
+ What documents will Delegates and Observers receive?
Upon successful registration, Delegates and Observers will be granted access to our Resources hub, where the Handbook, Paper Guidelines, and Background Guides will be available. We hope that these resources will prove helpful as you begin to explore the topics in further depth.
+ Will IVMUN provide any training for participants?
Yes. IVMUN will hold a training session for registered Delegates and Observers to introduce basic Rules of Procedures, research tips, and provide a simulation of the real experience. Participation is not required, but we strongly recommend Delegates and Observers new to Model UN to attend. The specific date will be announced as soon as it is available.
Also, throughout the preparation period for the Conference, our Secretariats is ready to assist you with any questions or concerns you may have.
+ Does IVMUN have a dress code?
Participants will be required to wear Western Business Attire while Committees are in session. Those who wear inappropriate clothes will not be allowed into the venue. The only exception to this is during the Social Night, where Delegates and Observers may dress down.
